Web 2.0 should be quite much social networking. I reviewed few articles about web 2.0 and social networking and made a notice that "social" is something which usually starts after the content is produced. Social network has yet no place in the production of the article. Most of the articles and content is produced by individuals. You may customize your site, column or blog by clipping, seeding etc. methods but still it's mostly a combination of articles which are produced individually.
It is possible we will generate a collaborative article to be posted to Newsvine during the meet.
Do Newsviners still need to meet physically to write a collaborative article? I would answer yes. There can be created groups like Edit Me where writers can get feedback from other writers and produce a better article but technical environment does not support the idea well enough. If I would like to write a collaborative article with a Newsviner is there a way to do it in Newsvine? If we managed to do it, how could we get equally shared earnings?
I thought the idea was for people to be able to read and edit here and hten we'd delete it
and publish it with corrections later?
One way to improve the quality of the article is the conversation related to it. You can change ideas and receive new ones liked or not with conversation feature. This feature is quite close to support social writing but it is not so common to improve the content based on the conversation. But it sure can help you to write a better articles afterwards.
Existing solutions for social writing could be Google Docs & Spreadsheets where user can invite other users as collaborators to edit a shared document in real time. After editing, user(s) can publish an article to Internet or blog. This tool gives support for collaboration during the production of the content but not so much after that. Perhaps in my vision there is a place where the social networking is supported from the very beginning of the article to the publication and after marketing. Or is the conversation & voting just enough social networking we need at the moment from Newsvine?
